Searching For the Cure For Cancer

Scientists have been searching for the cure for cancer for over a century now. There are actually medical writings going back hundreds of years, detailing the many methods and techniques tried, to beat this dreaded disease. While great advances have been made in many areas, there are still several forms of cancer that resist current treatment methods.

Millions upon millions of dollars are spent every year in the battle to find the cure for cancer. However, most researchers agree that we are still many years away from completely wiping out the disease. Part of the problem is that there are many variations of cancer. At the current time, the best chance of overcoming cancer is early detection. Many forms of cancer can be successfully treated, if it is caught early! Having regular physicals and screenings are essential to catch cancer in the early stages, before it has spread to other areas.

While most of us have heard of the traditional methods of cancer treatment, such as radiation and chemotherapy, several other treatments have been developed too. Some of these new techniques include freezing cancer tumors, injecting tumors with alcohol, and photodynamic therapy, just to name a few.

Some people are skeptical of traditional cancer treatments, after watching a friend or family member pass away from the disease. Many of these folks then seek out alternative methods of treatment if they develop cancer. Because most of these alternative treatments have not gone through extensive testing, they have yet to be approved by the FDA. However, there are several alternative therapies that people have used in other parts of the world, for many years. Fortunately, with the internet, it is much easier for anyone to seek out the information they need, to make a better informed decision.

It will truly be a historical day, around the world, when scientists discover the cure for cancer! Until then, the best plan is to keep up on regular physicals and screenings. If you have a family history of a certain kind of cancer, make sure your doctors know about it. They may very well schedule you for a particular test earlier than other people in your age bracket. Remember, early detection is most important!

Most Nutritional Cures For Cancer Eliminate Meat

There is a reason why most of the diets generally looked upon as "nutritional cures for cancer" eliminate cooked meat. The researcher T. Colin Campbell discovered long ago that meat protein could actually sort of "turn on" cancer cells inside the body -- causing them to multiply.

There are other problems associated with consuming meat too. It's a generally unhealthy food product.

From a physiological perspective, the human body isn't made to process cooked meat very well at all. The digestive tract of carnivores is short and smooth. While the human digestive tract is long, winding and full of pockets all throughout. If one looks at things strictly from a physiological standpoint, human beings reflect virtually all of the characteristics of herbivores and virtually no characteristics of carnivores. That should inform us as to what our diet should primarily be.

Virtually all commercially processed meats are filled with chemicals and toxins. These are the result of the animals being primed to both grow quickly and bigger. While I'm not against the fact that meat producers are interested in being efficient, in the way they cultivate their "product" for economic benefit, the public at large doesn't understand that such meat products carry within them a certain level of toxicity that, over time, can create scores of health problems down the road.

At this point. many people ask, "What about protein? Don't I need to eat meat in order to get protein?"

People do not need to eat meat in order to get all of the healthy protein they need. Many vegetables contain more protein - per calorie - than meats. And some vegetables, including broccoli and romaine lettuce, actually contain twice the amount of protein per calorie as most meats. So when you consume lots of vegetables you can get all of the protein needed by the body without the high number of calories that pack on unwanted pounds as one gets older.

Protein is necessary for many things, including building muscle and physical growth. But just think about the fact that some huge creatures, such as elephants, hippos and giraffes, have a plant-based diet. These animals obviously get more than enough protein from the plants they consume to grow very large and strong. So most advocates of diets that seek to bring cancer under control point to this reality in order to answer questions as to whether or not meat is necessary for acquiring protein.

The bottom line is that cooked meat should be avoided by those who are fighting cancer through diet. Plant-based diets are generally at the heart of most nutritional cures for cancer.
